It has been observed that they bed in the day within the timber. Then they look for food and feed at night out into the open fields. But be reminded, these deer could be very hard to target and pin down. You have to be patient and determined when bow hunting for whitetail deer. Watch the edges of the fields. By doing so, you could effectively determine exactly where it is that the deer are entering into and leaving the timber. The mid-day is the best time to find the animals entrance trails. You have to follow back into the timber. You could start looking for main indications of their presence like tracks, droppings, bedding areas, as well as rub marks made on trees.
